HABs Harrier training workshop dates have been finalized!

At this workshop, a NYSDEC staff member will explain what cyanobacteria are, how they are managed, and how to recognize and distinguish blooms of cyanobacteria from other types of algal blooms. You will also be provided with sampling instructions, kits for sample collection, and other helpful resources.

As part of the training workshop, immediately following NYSDEC’s presentation, staff from our local CSI-CLWN-DCL consortium will consult with you to select your shoreline monitoring area (zone) as well as review program logistics and sample documentation and drop-off procedures.

    Training Dates:

    • June 13th, 5:30 – 8:30 – Wells College, Aurora, NY. The workshop will be held in Stratton Hall room 209.
    • June 14th, 1:00 – 4:00 – Tompkins County Health Department, 55 Brown Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850. The workshop will be held in the Rice Conference Room.
    • June 21st, 5:30 – 8:30 – Canoga Volunteer Fire Department, 3576 NY-89, Seneca Falls, NY 13148.
