CSI’s biomonitoring program doesn’t end in the winter — it just moves inside. Join us at the Seneca Falls Library on Saturday, February 17th from 1-4pm for a Biomonitoring Open Lab Day. Together, volunteers can participate in benthic macroinvertebrate sample sorting and analysis of the stream samples collected from Canoga Creek. No prior experience is required; there are things to help with and learn at any level of expertise. Volunteers separate organisms from gravel and other stream substrate material, then sort and identify them to family level. These organism counts help us evaluate water quality in streams based on what lives there.
