Dan Pascucci
Water Quality Scientist
Originally hailing from the Village of Farmingdale on Long Island, Dan has always looked for excuses to get down in the mud! His summers spent exploring the beaches of Long Island and the forests of upstate NY led Dan to pursue a BS in Biology from St. Joseph’s University in Patchogue and a master’s degree in ecology from Stony Brook University. In addition to academic work, Dan has experience working for and with local government and smaller communities from working as a biologist for the Town of Hempstead to helping to organize The Mangrove Advisory Board in St. Bernard Parish Louisiana. While a passion for both the nitty gritty science of ecology and the raw beauty of nature drove him through his career, a love for sharing this passion developed. With the Community Science Institute Dan is excited to use his skills and knowledge to contribute to science that inspires and empowers the community to share the passion he has.
Outside the lab, Dan enjoys a host of other interests. Growing up on Long Island (with a healthy number of trips over the bridges) gave Dan a deep appreciation for the outdoors and all its activities from hiking to birding to kayaking. At the same time, Dan is equally happy to play some board games or D&D with his friends, or even simply hanging out with his cat Soot or ball python Penny.
