In 2025, CSI launched the Water Testing Assistance Program to help ensure that cost is not a barrier to accessing reliable drinking water testing for households experiencing financial hardship. For residents who rely on private wells, routine testing is the only way to confirm that water is free from harmful contaminants such as bacteria and nitrates, yet regulatory-quality testing can be financially out of reach for many.
Through this program, eligible participants receive a 50% discount on CSI’s in-house drinking water tests, along with personalized testing recommendations from CSI’s scientific staff. To review a list of water testing analysis available through CSI, visit Potable and Non-Potable Water Tests and Fees.
Supported by a community grant from the Rotary Club of Ithaca, the program reflects a shared commitment to public health and equity.
Interested residents may contact CSI directly or be referred through partners including Tompkins County Whole Health’s Healthy Neighborhoods Program and Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services (INHS). Eligibility is based on self-reporting or referral from trusted partner organizations, ensuring that those who need it most can safeguard their drinking water without the burden of extensive paperwork.
