Laylah’s family originally hails from Queens, NY but she moved to Augusta, GA at a young age. There she attended A.R. Johnson Healthcare Science and Engineering Magnet School and studied Computer Science Engineering. This would spark her interest in innovation leading her to graduate from the Kansas City Art Institute in Kansas City, MO where she studied animation.
Keeping her Science and Engineering background she was drawn to this role and CSI’s mission of everyone being able to make a difference where they live. She has enjoyed her travels throughout the U.S. and sees the importance of keeping the integrity of the natural world.
In her free time she enjoys the arts such as painting, illustrating, visual development and graphic design. She has an art show this April at the CAP Art Space called “Threads that Bind” highlighting the concept of self from being a child of the internet while also utilizing the visual effects of textiles.
She is a forever student, podcast lover, and folklore enthusiast. If you have any local stories about Ithaca and the surrounding areas she would love to hear them!
It is a pleasure to announce that Community Science Institute’s (CSI’s) board
