The Northeast Chapter of the Dragonfly Society of the Americas (DSA) will be hosting its 2020 Dragonfly and Damselfly Nymphfest here in Ithaca!
This day-and-a-half long event will include presentations from odonates (dragonflies and damselflies) experts, nymph identification workshops, and trips into the field to demonstrate nymph collection. The keynote speaker will be Marla Garrison, former member of the DSA executive council, who will cover topics including nymph ontogeny, nymph anatomy, and nymph identification. This event is an amazing opportunities for everyone interested in learning more about dragonflies and benthic macroinvertebrates.
Community Science Institute is excited to co-sponsor the event by providing microscopes and dragonfly and damselfly nymphs from stream samples collected by volunteers of our Biomonitoring Program.
The event will be held on March 28-29, at the beautiful Nelvin Welcome Center of the Cornell Botanical Gardens. It is recommended that participates commit to the entire program to get the most from this unique learning experience.
Registration is free! The event will be limited to 40 participants, so those who are interested should register soon.
